Unpopular realism: America has always been this f*cked up. Most people were ok with the way the U.S. bullied, oppressed and played war games with other countries as long as those countries weren’t filled with white people. 1/2
I never imagined that I would lose someone to AIDS in 2025, but my beloved uncle just died of it in October. No one ran a test. 4yrs years of begging drs. A simple HIV test and antiviral meds, and he would be here. He died horribly. If you are sexually active at all, regardless of age, GET TESTED.

The thing about Newsom is that if it’s politically expedient, he’s shown a tendency to disavow support for vulnerable people. He needs to be grilled more about that. But because it’s politically expedient now, he’s facing reality and saying what we need Democrats at all levels to be saying.

My grandfather was a PI. He was a beat cop and detective before that. A US Navy sailor before that in WWII/Korea. He was more of a father to me than his a-hole son in law. I'm still ACAB. I started watching police dramas and detective shows with him when I was little. Despite the horrors... 1/2

Circulation is what keeps books on shelves, so go checkout banned books, even if you've already read them. Do the same for marginalized authors! Order them from another branch and pick them up from yours. BE THE CHANGE. Even if you only check them out for a day.
