ive said b4 that leonie is an optional colosseum fight but id like to add that she's actually fighting zenos in there and sora has to avoid the crossfire and take one of them out before fighting the other

I like it when discussions expose basic truths like "characters have impact on the story" because it feels like a given but I genuinely feel like that, and other similar fundamentals, are ignored so often.

"rewrite it" is such a shortsighted look at like. why someone would criticize bigoted patterns in a work they love too. like the problem is not "it's personally inconvenient to my oc's story" the problem is that bigoted writing is symptomatic of systems that Cause Actual Harm

my thing about the whole "just rewrite canon" thing is that. i like the canon. i wouldn't be here if i didn't. i can criticize something and like it at the same time.

just putting my thoughts into the air with the “rewrite it” critique— that’s kind of a huge undertaking? I think it is absolutely a disservice to characters who have died in xiv to just go “oh in my canon they’re alive now but nothing has changed.” like… there should be changes! big ones! And I dont
