fell off a bit from ffxiv as an interest lately but fshverse keeps it alive and fresh... treating the game like a tabletop experience rejuvenated the story for me (+ all my friends are so creative and talented)

it's impossible to cherry pick things you like about certain media with racist themes without understanding why they're harmful in the first place.
also, listen to the criticism from the people of those cultures being depicted. it especially means you're not adding a "but i-" to their critique.

you're not allowed to be online in the year 2025 and stay ignorant about racism, cultural appropriation, and orientalism. if you can spend time googling and crafting lore for your fictional characters, you can also educate yourself on issues that hurt real human beings outside of your escapism.

You need genuine connections to the cultures you’re representing; that means actively hiring and working with activists, indigenous people, and cultural leaders / elders.
