Jack. Gen X but not old enough to know better, apparently. Nerd, gamer, very occasional fic writer, outdoorsy in the laziest possible way. Let's go mudlarking and watch MST3K.

Oh no, Joe Don Baker died?? Love that The Guardian managed to slip in a photo from Mitchell in their article, minus the #mst3k crew.

The prolific performer played varied roles – from arms dealer to baseball star – and made the rare switch from Bond villain to Bond good guy

Made it to ante 7 in the jokerless challenge in Balatro. Thinking I should add that to my LinkedIn profile.

aaaand now one of them is smoking and it's coming in my window. (This is how I know it's a good restaurant btw)
Listening to the line cooks from the restaurant next door argue in the alley outside my office window. The main themes seem to be "I'll break your face" and "bite me, bitch"

Went to a local diner for breakfast and at the counter was a bowl of candies and these piggies with unibrows drawn on in sharpie. That's it, that's the post.

Re-watched This is Spinal Tap right before bed and woke up with the riff from "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight" stuck in my head. Not sure how I feel about this.

New lot of treasures being sorted! Can't wait to dig into this haul, lots of interesting pieces. Still another pound or two of tangles, small pieces, and broken bits to go through yet as well.

One way I de-stress is to sort and disassemble old costume jewelry. I buy bulk lots that have been picked over by resellers so there's a lot of homemade pieces usually. Check out this massive giraffe medallion serving 3x the side eye.

This kind of smoke-and-mirrors effort is designed to keep us in a state of panic. Glad The Guardian was able to report on it. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Thousands of press releases about decade-old enforcement actions topped search results, all updated with a timestamp from after Trump’s inauguration

Didn't have time to think lunch through very carefully this morning which is how I ended up with avocado toast and split pea soup.

My boss has been having nightmares recently, specifically about his dogs getting run over. So last night to wind down before bed, he decides to watch a mindless action flick to get his mind off it.

What does he pick?

Man some days you just want to build a cabin and just live off the land. And also the cabin has WiFi and a PS5.

Cleaned out one (1) shelf of storage cabinet at work. Did you know dried out rubber bands kind of feel like dead worms? Well now you do.

I absolutely adore this movie and quote it often. My mom is still looking for her Perfect Omelette™.

Two years ago, mom had a seizure and ended up in the hospital for a few days. It was awful, esp. since, with Alzheimer's, she couldn't remember why she was there. Panicked, I got her a tiny kalanchoe on clearance at the grocery store. Here it is today. Mom has nursed it along the whole time.

Eating my meager bean soup just now, I had to soak the leftover sourdough bread in the broth because it was so stale. Really living my Dickensian urchin dreams here.

Pleased to find I have precisely zero interest in any of the new games announced at GOTY so I can spend next year working through the mountain of fabulous 2023/24 games I have yet to finish

My beige flag is that, when waiting for a car to pass so I can cross the street, I pretend to sneeze to give myself something to do other than just stare as the car goes by.

Dad: Now pour the oil into the generator carefully and tilt the bottle to the side or it'll spill
Me, a 48-year old man: Okay dad 🙄 *proceeds to spill oil all over the place*

Sometimes I forget how different other people's lives are from mine. But in the elevator just now, I found a discarded matinee ticket for yesterday's showing of Red One. It would literally never in a million years occur to me to make that choice. Life truly is a rich tapestry.
