When I left the Washington Post in 2023, my colleagues and I were worried AI would hoover up our work and enable "zombies" to churn out stories based on our reporting and writing styles.

Today WaPo announced a partnership with OpenAI. And here it is: Zombie Gillian Brockell. I DID NOT WRITE THIS.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has handed over control of the Department of the Interior to Tyler Hassen, a former oil executive and Musk staffer. Hassen, who came to the agency through the so-called DOGE, now has broad authority to cut costs and consolidate operations across the department,

Does anyone know who the man was that was suddenly detained by cops - including 2 on horseback - at the Washington Monument protest today or why? Any stories about it? Did he have warrants out for his arrest or was it random? I filmed the arrest. #handsoff #dc

HandsOff protest.

Hearing rumors about increased presence and military being at today’s protests in #DC. My biggest observation from April 5 was gray hair - the people coming to these protests are baby boomers. If they’re gonna rough up the crowd, there will be broken bones and lots of injured old folks. #handsoff

Once again, still, stories like this need to be written as "try to rescind," since the administration is not planning to follow any of the laws or procedures that cover what it wants to do

Anyone else planning to participate in the #HandsOff protest this weekend in Washington DC and disappointed to learn that it’s at JD Vance’s house?

Returning to the Mall would be a much better idea - so many causes to protest and many fed workers with anti-DOGE msgs to be heard.

Thoughts?
