Hello, Bluesky! Migrating from the bad place. Tag me for reskeets of your new papers on SocArXiv, ask for help with the site, say hello, etc.
This kind of announcement may help explain why so many people are using LLMs to flood preprints servers with papers about AI

It's easy for some of you to just never use LLMs and just criticize people who do. I would like to be in that situation. But here I am, with my moderator volunteers, assessing hundreds of papers submitted to @socarxiv.bsky.social, trying to decide how to fairly judge whether to accept them. /1

"The advent of large language models have made this type of content relatively easy to churn out on demand, and the majority of the review articles we receive are little more than annotated bibliographies, with no substantial discussion of open research issues."
arXiv will no longer accept review articles and position papers unless they have been accepted at a journal or a conference and complete successful peer review.

This is due to being overwhelmed by a hundreds of AI generated papers a month.

Yet another open submission process killed by LLMs.

New policy at SocArXiv: We now require the submitting author to have an ORCID linked from the OSF profile page, with a name that matches that on the paper and the OSF account.

Every new paper posted on SocArXiv includes the option of storing supplemental materials, gets a DOI (linked to the journal version as needed), a CC license if desired, connects to the authors' ORCIDS, and generates an automatic skeet on @socarxivbot.bsky.social. Like this one. Nice work!

The attack on Knowledge Commons (@kcommons.bsky.social) seems to have ceased, for now, and I have re-enabled access to user profiles. We will do a full postmortem on Monday and continue our efforts to thwart this. It's difficult when your attacker has billions of $s of computing power.

Hmm. @kcommons.bsky.social is being absolutely hammered, again, we assume, by AI harvesting bots. I have had to disable access to user profiles on the system, as a temporary measure. Huge apologies; these crawlers are really wrecking the 'net.
