Attention authors: We are currently unable to moderate papers, due to a glitch in the upgraded platform interface at @cos.io. They're working on it! We hope to be accepting papers again shortly. Very sorry for the inconvenience. Watch this space for updates. Thank you.

New policy at SocArXiv: We now require the submitting author to have an ORCID linked from the OSF profile page, with a name that matches that on the paper and the OSF account.

Any submission rule we make will be ingested by LLMs and used to make AI slop submissions that comply. However, it is helpful for us when authors accidentally leave in the ChatGPT comments.
Please take such work elsewhere.

As we say: The conversation gets better when someone says, "Where's your paper?" And the answer is: "Here."

Good morning #ASA2025! Protip: If you include a link to your conference paper on your slides, you're more likely to get readers and substantive engagement. Upload to SocArXiv and slap that URL or a QR code for it on your first and last slide. It also signals your transparency and accountability.

We have email clarification from the journal that the following on that page precludes posting on SocArXiv. It would be great if they changed it

Here's an update on sociology (and some demography) journal editorial polices with regard to sharing preprints before submission and after acceptance. A big improvement from the last edition of this table. With one exception.

News! SocArXiv host OSF now supports better versioning of papers, making it easier to cite, share, and update papers - and new versions are moderated. This will also support new, more transparent publishing models. Details and guidance: help.osf.io/article/673-.... Ask us if you need help!

Chapters in edited volumes and handbooks may be good for early career scholars to get published. But they're also often expensive and hard to access. Posting a preprint version can solve this. Ask us if you need help.

When you publish a paper after posting it on SocArXiv, we recommend posting a new version, including the journal information on the title page. You can also add the DOI to our record for better linkage. Like this. Feel free to ask for help!
