#filmskya

My local grocery store started selling Samyang Buldak Carbonara Ramen, and after trying one I'm hooked. This one is only at level 2 out of 5 on Buldak's spicyness chart, but that was more than enough for me. Ended up filling up my cupboard. 🍜

Did a write-up about how I use @crowdsec.bsky.social and @traefik.io to block IPs suspected of HTTP-based attacks: snorre.io/blog/2026-01...

The default http-probing scenario was a bit aggressive, so had to override that one. But otherwise it seems to be doing a fine job!

So I spent 30 minutes setting up a self-hosted umami.is instance to track traffic to my website. Pretty nice, you just need Postgres to store data. Probably not quite as performant at analytics queries as Plausible which uses Clickhouse, but should be more than good enough for my small site.

@eurosky.social is really exciting. Hosting core infrastructure for social networking in Europe without inventing yet another proprietary social media platform is a powerful idea. I’m just really hoping the Swiss PLC organization materialize soon so I don’t have to worry about Bluesky axing it.

My website at snorre.io is officially over on @scaleway.com VM. Domain registration and DNS is still stuck at Cloudflare, but working on that as well. site.eu looks really nice. Had some problem with payment, but once that is resolved I might move the domain as well.

Spent the better part of my evening preparing a new Scaleway VM so I can move my snorre.io website from Cloudflare back to Europe. Fell down the rabbit hole of setting up Forgejo registry on S3, hardening my SSH setup further, and playing around with Scaleway Pulumi stuff.

Which name registrar are my fellow European tech people using? I've been happy with Cloudflare, but with the way things are I'm looking at going Europe all tech things. Scaleway will launch support for .dev domains in 2026, but they are a bit expensive for .io domains. Any other good registrars?

This is a trap I see a lot of leftists fall into, right now with the Iranian and Venezuelan regimes.

A simplistic leftist analysis chooses to support whomever the US opposes.

And they end up supporting dictatorships and crimes against humanity by default.

Sometimes everybody’s an asshole.
Over the years, I’ve worked on many investigations into the IDF’s conduct in the OPT. The past two and a half years, amid genocide, have been the most intense. That’s why I can’t understand those who claim solidarity with Palestine while denying the mass violence carried out by the Iranian regime.

Data is correct, causal agency is (IMO) incorrect.

The vast majority of ppl who use AI to make images and video have never touched and would never touch Photoshop/AfterEffects/Illustrator/etc. The issue is Adobe trying to squeeze its users with subscriptions, and other customer-hostile behavior.

Bedre historie hadde løftet denne noen hakk. #filmskya

Discovered this commercial for a small synth thingy with Jemaine Clement and Matt Berry today, and I think it is hands down the best commercial of 2025.

Fortunately Telepathic Instruments have closed their store until April, so no impulse purchase this time. 😅 Looks and sounds neat though!

This level of investment into Kerbal Space Program is just really wholesome. Building a physical sim like that must be a lot of fun. He’s just missing physical controls now. I can really recommend the game for anyone curious about spaceship mechanics.

For some reason I just really like the pitch-down slide effect used for the synth pads in this song: open.spotify.com/track/4jQkH6...

I have not heard any of the artists other songs, but there is something very cinematic about this one. The down-pitching gives it a "shit is going down" feel.

Finished watching all three Lord of the Rings extended edition movies for the holiday season. One thing I always enjoy is the absolute love all the male characters show each other, especially Frodo and Sam. The dynamic between the characters are just so wholesome. Never tire of the movies.

I'm migrating my private Mattermost instance from a dedicated server host in Norway to @scaleway.com and dang their offering is getting nice. Yeah, they are a bit more pricey, but their DX around private networking, managed databases, and more is getting really streamlined.
