Tall woman in a family of taller people. Unsure yet if I belong here, we shall see!
I wish I knew someone with a dog who would appreciate a bone. We just had a tomahawk steak with a REALLY big bone. Yes I know that it's not healthy for doggos to chomp on them for long, but a bit of time with one would make a dog happy for a few.

We ordered a treat, a cheesecake from Kelsie’s Breads & Sweets in Fairview. Damn it's good (but not as good as Alanna's).

My gym opens at 8 this morning instead of 5:30. I wonder why? This isn't a holiday, it's just a Wednesday. I can see why they close early, it will probably be very quiet there this evening, but opening late means people who work can't go.

Costco was oddly quiet, I guess because they don't do post-Christmas sales like many other retailers do. Gotta readjust to being a household of two again instead of 3.5. And something was telling me we need some vegetables.

Me: I booked Teen's flight back to Toronto so that he can spend most of the day with us, yet won't be getting back in the middle of the night. Bonus, I won't have to drive to the airport in the dark.
Universe: Yeah let's delay the flight by 3-4 hours.

We were walking at Belcher's Marsh yesterday. I know there was talk a few months back about the city or something removing the beavers that live there. Are they still there? We didn't see any signs of them but the marsh is iced over, maybe beavers lay low in the lodge in the winter?

I just popped into Sobeys for something I forgot. Strangely quiet. Not deserted, but no lines to speak of.

Sometimes I make dough and I can just tell from the feel of it that it's coming out perfectly. Shortly after it came out of the oven, Teen came home and is on his way on an overnight trip with his guys. They needed food for the evening. Now I have three rolls left.

Hey, thanks for delivering my stuff! But did you know that if you put it in front of my door I can't open it? 🤣 At least those ones were light and I could push them out of the way, the big box on the step would have been too heavy.

Walking around in public with Teen is funny. He doesn't even notice it anymore, but people stare at him like he just stepped off a spacecraft. He said that when people ask his height, his answer now is, "Guess." Some say 6'1. Some say 7'8 (answer is 6'9). Sometimes he feels like an exotic zoo animal

Teen was out quite late with friends last night and just woke up not long ago. When your kid is home from university for a limited time, he gets spoiled a bit. Nobody brings brunch to your room in Toronto I'm told. 🤣

Had to call to set up online banking on my new credit card. The rep kept calling me sir - after about the third time I corrected her. After three MORE sirs I corrected her again. She almost got it by the end of the call, just one more sir. JFC, yes I have a low voice but damn, can you not HEAR me?

Snow tires have been installed. Now it is OK for it to occasionally, moderately, snow. ❄️

After a 90 minute wait on the Toronto runway, Teen did make his way home. While I did have a meal planned for tonight, I kind of overlooked the fact that I need to feed an additional 1.5 people for the next few weeks. Oops.

Teen is coming home today from Toronto. He had to get to Union Station first, so he took a rental bike. In the wet snow. With his roller suitcase and a backpack. 🤣 I told him he can take an Uber, but nope, says the bike is 'fast and cheap' (but more fun without balancing a suitcase and backpack).

A little over a year ago I picked up my second COVID case at my MIL's funeral (along with several other people). Haven't really been sick since - until now. Healthy streak is over I guess.

So Teen is in Toronto and has started to enjoy matcha. I got him a set to make his own awhile back, which he likes. The matcha powder I got him is OK he says. Any recommendations for brands, etc. to get that are great?

I got 'egg bite' molds this week and tried them out this morning in my Instant Pot, worked well. Made poached eggs. Might try something different tomorrow, scrambled with some veggies, etc. in them.

Chocolate chips aren't getting any cheaper at Costco. Unfortunately this seems to be the cheapest price for them (by weight). Fortunately I still have some.

I think my cat has supersonic hearing. His favourite people food is ham, he was upstairs on my bed sleeping. I opened the wrapper for the ham and within seconds I hear him flying down the stairs and he's weaving around my ankles meowing.

Thick snow happening in Fairview. We shall see what the morning brings.

I watched something on Instagram yesterday about the movie Stand By Me. It showed the characters from back then, vs today walking next to each other (obviously AI generated). I've watched that more than once, read the Stephen King book it was based on.

It was sunny for a minute, then it got dark. Now it's pouring.

When I was a kid you could not have paid me to eat a brussels sprout. Really like them now. Had sprouts roasted with broccoli, black beans, fries from the air fryer, chicken breast on top. Very yummy.
