Tall woman in a family of taller people. Unsure yet if I belong here, we shall see!
It was sunny for a minute, then it got dark. Now it's pouring.

When I was a kid you could not have paid me to eat a brussels sprout. Really like them now. Had sprouts roasted with broccoli, black beans, fries from the air fryer, chicken breast on top. Very yummy.

At Gateway today they had 10 pound bags of potatoes for .97. We can't use THAT many, so I bought a couple extra for the food pantry in Fairview (Rosedale/Hillcrest, behind the mosque). I took a couple other things from my pantry as well. If you're able, you should too. It was looking quite bare.

I shouldn't have been surprised but Gateway was, well, an experience. 'Black Friday' sales. The shopping was the quickest part of it; took me 20 minutes to even get a parking space, 15 to get into the store and 15 to shop. Fortunately I am off today and it stopped raining before I got in line.

It's definitely a scrape the car kind of morning.

Did you know that if your kid is out of province for school, you're supposed to let MSI know so that their coverage can continue? I did know this since mine was away the last three years (learned from a tweet a few years back), but I forgot to do it since he went to a different province this year.

This was really good! The chicken thighs needed to be broiled a bit at the end to brown the skin, but it was delicious. I didn't have green onions but used yellow onions in the pan first and browned them. The rice is particularly yum. Will make this again.
Trying a new recipe, seems fairly easy. I am using bone-in chicken thighs because I'm much too thrifty to buy boneless and too lazy to bone them. I'll probably broil a bit at the end to brown up the chicken. theeastcoastkitchen.com/one-pot-garl...

Bought a large amount of sliced mozzarella cheese at Gateway yesterday. Looks like a large lasagna is in my future today. The slices are about the same size as a standard 400 gram block of cheese.

I recently got a tool that can seal up tortillas for you. I'm still in my 'tortilla all the things' moment. 🤣 Ham, eggs and cheese in there, tossed in the air fryer for a little bit.

One morning husband was putting out the trash and noticed something on the front steps - a McDs bag containing two quarter pounders with cheese, delivered the night before. No racoons even found it! DoorDash or whatever. Too bad, into the green bin they went.

All those dark clouds that were over the Basin earlier now seem to have made it to the sky over my house.

We got burrito bowls from Habaneros tonight, they were very good, and a large was big enough to supply lunches for tomorrow. But every time I buy a burrito bowl I think, I can do this just as good or better! I can and do, but sometimes just don't wanna be the cook.

Went to RMV to renew my license. So easy when you book an appointment, took less than 10 minutes, in and out. But the parking lot - even as an experienced driver, figuring out what lines are yours was a bit challenging!

We're thinking of trying the services of a dietician to help with weight loss. Thinking someone who could create meal plans for us based on likes/dislikes. I don't want to buy ready-made food, just have someone do healthy eating planning for the week and I can cook it. Is that a thing?

Me to hotel front desk staff: Is there anywhere to get coffee now?
Staff: Yes! The restaurant opens at 6:30.
Me: Um, it's 5:30?
Staff: *smiles* Yes!

I wonder what it's gonna be like in Toronto tomorrow night. A bit chaotic I'm guessing.

If you missed @girlfriday.bsky.social's food drive this weekend, remember there's always food pantries that could use some love. I went to one in Fairview a bit ago to drop off some things, it was looking rather bare.

Awakened at 6:30 a.m. by weird buzzing noise. Thought it was outside, ignored for half hour then went seeking source. Another bedroom has stuff Teen didn't take with him, including a callus remover with a rough spinning part that smooths your feet. It was in a cabinet, in its box. It was ON? WTAF?

Okay. So. Amazing scenes playing out at the vets when i arrived to pick up Napoleon.

Names changed/removed. But get ready for a lost kitty story with a happy ending.

It starts late last year, when the elderly neighbour of a young couple went into a care home /1
