One can be both happy that Assad’s tyranny has ended and also be cynical because of what’s coming next.

I don’t think a large number of Americans have reached that conclusion. They see the status quo working for the few and not the many, so anyone promising to break the status quo got their vote, anyone for the status quo lost their vote.

This is the eventual legacy he will leave.
with Biden’s lockstep support for genocide in Gaza, there emerged a cottage industry of excuse-making, ranging from Feigned Helplessness to 18 dimensional chess to the Israel lobby forcing him.

As he exits office, I propose a simpler explanation: he just agrees w/ it

Biden supports genocide in Gaza because he agrees with it
Fake behind-the-scenes maneuvering, supposed electoral necessity: all cover to avoid the unseemly fact that Biden simply supports genocide in Gaza because he thinks it’s justified.

Nah they got real grievances. Especially when you see the wealth gap trending in the wrong direction for over 4 decades.

Yeah, his support and funding of genocide will define his presidency.
Jimmy Carter pardoned his brother Billy Carter who took over $200,000 from Libya as its foreign agent.

George H.W. Bush pardoned his son Neil Bush for his role in the S&L scandals of the 1980s.

Nobody thinks those pardons defined either presidency.

Joe Biden's pardon of Hunter Biden won't either.

This administration truly deserved the loss that was delivered on November 5.

There is no excuse for this behavior, especially when it is so clear how wrong their position is on the war.
The Biden administration is withholding federal funding from climate justice group @cjaourpower.bsky.social because it has been outspoken in its support for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Unacceptable. True climate justice work means connecting the dots to racism, colonialism, and genocide.

Carlos Sainz is probably the best driver on the grid when it comes to understanding strategy. If Ferrari did what he wants they would have more points.

That’s not why people are leaving X. They’re leaving because the actual user experience is quickly deteriorating over there. And Elon has made it abundantly clear that he wants X algos to promote him, Trump, and right wing talking points.

Thing is, for Instagram it seemed to work when they took away control on the timeline. More advertising and continued growth of DAU.

But it just doesn’t translate to a different product serving a different purpose.
These companies would rather fail than give users control over their timelines

As I’ve said before, the media needs to stop treating Trump’s policies as serious policies. He basically threatens to create problems, then takes credit for not following through and avoiding said problems.
All it took was one call.

Hasan does a great job articulating where, how, and why the Democrats continue to fail when it comes to messaging.

My take, Dems are too scared to rock the boat. In a time when Americans are done with the status quo, you can’t bring more of the same.

Lovett & Hasan Piker talk through the hard questions about where the Dem Party needs to go from here, the liberal media landscape, & what the Harris campaign told us about why they lost

Then Jon talks to Mass. Congressman Seth Moulton about the House, his comments on trans athletes & more

When there’s equitable use of the systems, the West would rather dismantle everything than accept fairness.
See the difference?

Another thought. What if talks of prices going up makes people buy more this holiday season? Then Q4 earnings start coming out in Feb-Mar 2025 and stock market booms and Trump takes credit, of course.

This is not a serious policy. He will tell his voters that Canada and Mexico listened to him and fixed their border issues, then he will back off the tariffs. It’s a win-win. Voters believe what he says and his corporate handlers avoid economic collapse.

This story has sat with me since I read it early last week.

Hard to stomach for a multitude of reasons. Chief of which is that Islam and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) literally saved my life and continues to.

Even on a human level, it is simply indignity to the point of cruelty.
For the past 25 years, Keith Gavin practiced Islam inside the walls of death row. But his final moments were spent in a battle for religious respect, with prison officials denying him a halal final meal and the chance to pray properly before execution.

Before Executing a Muslim Man, Alabama Denied Many of His Final Religious Requests
Keith Gavin made a number of requests about his final moments, all stemming from his Islamic faith. But the prison largely ignored them, as it has with Muslim prisoners in the past.

One thing that’s been evident this time around has been the Democrats complacency to the new reality.

They told us democracy was on the line, but they sure aren’t acting like it.
"Democrats have agreed to stand down on Biden’s last four appeals court nominees: Julia Lipez in the First Circuit, Adeel Mangi in the Third Circuit, Ryan Park in the Fourth Circuit, and Karla Campbell in the Sixth Circuit."

While Schumer tried to downplayed the significance of this:
What’s the Deal With the “Deal” that Senate Democrats Made on Judicial Nominations?
The good news is that some fights will be easier. The bad news is that other fights won't be happening at all.
