So they can whip you to get behind the surrender but he couldn’t whip then to hold out?
Many feel betrayal and frustration, and the feelings are hot right now.
I get it. I have my own feelings.

How does the fucking WHIP betray the caucus and minority leader? I mean, isn't that grounds for immediate loss of your post. You are supposed to whip FOR the leader, not against.

Deportation has taken away the father I once knew and given me back a person I no longer recognize.

The RIFs were already illegal the first time but now they are double illegal oh my goodness
The RIFs language is actually great. Not only does it rehire the people RIFed during the shutdown, it makes it an unequivocal Antideficiency Act violation to do ANY MORE RIFs through the duration of the CR (Jan 30)
Completely stops Trump/Vought Phase 2 for now
Would love to see this standardized

Anyway, war and peace is not nearly as impenetrable as pop culture makes it out to be, and i think most of you would really enjoy it. the last chapter is just a direct non narrative 20 page argument for scientific super-determinism that i still think is just true and correct
Like 20 years ago i was reading anna karenina in the office and based on the cover art my brodude boss scoffed “are you reading a romance novel?”
And at first i got mad, but basically he wasn’t wrong which made me even more mad

Its crazy to think how drastically different all of history would be if the sahara were subtropical instead of desert, or even just like half as big

really hope people start to understand that Medicare for all wouldn't have been subject to things like states refusing to expand medicaid or the elimination of premium tax credits, while also implementing price controls in healthcare. ACA's complexity is its vulnerability

The filibuster is so fundamentally anti-democratic that forcing the authoritarian party to kill it so that they could keep taking health care and food away from Americans was probably the cleanest out from the damn thing, yet this Cones of Duneshire-ass opposition party loves rules more than wins.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Understand clearly that these people are voting to end your ACA subsidies and double or triple the cost of your insurance. They are voting FOR that. They are voting to all but end Obamacare.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

this is how dedicated they are to preserving the filibuster
Kinda seems like the Democrats are gonna be accused of caving here: "The deal would include a promised vote on extending Obamacare tax credits in December, the sources said."
If true, seems Dems opted not to (speaking purely politically) take advantage of the negative news of Trump and SNAP?
