Crucial thread on the latest blatant falsehoods in the Telegraph, and how they reflect a much wider false narrative.
This Telegraph article is a distillation of the horseshit propping up the idea of a 'rural v urban culture war'.

'BBC ACCUSED OF METROPOLITAN BIAS TOWARD RURAL BRITAIN' it claims, citing a poll commissioned by the Regional Moorland Association (i.e. gamekeepers)

Do jurors have the right to apply their conscience to a case or could it be a criminal offence for them to do so?

A recent hearing before the RCJ puts the centuries-old principle of jury equity on the line.

I’ve written about it for @prospect_uk

I see this so often that I think it might qualify as a law:

The time people take to notice demographic trends is equal to the time required for the results to materialise.

In other words, however obvious the maths might be, we cannot or will not see it coming.
Trump thinks immigrants will destroy Europe. The truth is the opposite.
This column is about the long arc of population change, the hybridity of European cultures, and the widely-misinterpreted results of demographic momentum.
Big issues we need to understand.

It's noticeable that the people who are now angriest with Keir Starmer's Labour government are those who voted for it. And they are right to be. This has been his primary achievement.
So where on earth does he think Labour voters will come from, next time round?
How many times do we need to point this out?
By appeasing the far right, you do not weaken it. You strengthen it.
While weakening your own position.

The political agreement reached on the 2040 climate target is great news.

One month after COP30 Europe matches words with deeds.

With a legally binding target of 90% emissions reduction by 2040.

And a pragmatic & flexible plan to make this transition our competitive advantage.
We have a final deal on our 2040 climate target ✅

We now have a legally binding 90% GHG reduction target: 85% domestic cuts + up to 5% international credits.

This is an ambitious and pragmatic agreement that brings predictability and flexibility for everyone.
