this is the guy who got rid of brokers fees in nyc, for anyone who doesn't live here. he rocks
This is exactly what we need. This is it.

"New York City Council member Chi Ossé, a close ally of Zohran Mamdani, is privately discussing a run against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.)"
Scoop: Mamdani ally weighs challenging Hakeem Jeffries
Just talking about a potential campaign could drive a further wedge between Mamdani — the democratic socialist in line to be New York's next mayor — and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.)

Not buying this. Both the previous and current music teams have been guilty of breaking this policy for years, it's just too blatant to not call it out now. This was not some obscure part of the website, it's where bands go when they want to learn more about *applying to play at MAGFest*
The page with the more firm rule about not double-booking bands was created by our previous music team, and we were not aware it was still live and accessible on our site. We DO try to avoid repeat bookings, unless there are specific cases (in this case, a new MMX performance that matches our theme)

Also very telling about the status of MAG is how so many people in my DMs are basically like "I'm afraid if I say this publicly I won't ever get booked" which is just beyond fucked. If MAG would pass on someone due to totally valid criticism then MAG needs better people.

once again, my issue is not with the band, it's when organizations claim to follow artistic values and inclusion (this is definitely not my first rodeo) and don't. if it's not the policy anymore, then delete it.

at least respect the acts enough to spell their names correctly the second time, damn

I say this with all the love and respect in my heart for all involved- the music booking team, the mag org at large, and of course Bit Brigade who do nothing but shred: but if you're going to put this in your "artistic values" you cannot then book the same act three years in a row.

What's up Bluesky folks. Sorry I never post on here. Thanks for following me anyway. I'm busy as hell lately but it's mostly great stuff. Love you, here's a meal I made tonight

A coworker and I have discovered that corn has never appeared in a Zelda game. I don't know how we got to that point nor what to do with this information but it's been gnawing at me for a day now

We don’t need to suffer for art to be great

You can listen to and support artists without us collectively descending into fascism!!!!
I’m not a fan of hearing, “well, at least we’ll get good art out of the next 4 years!”

In this view, art is treated as a consumable good whose quality - insofar as it is to entertain an audience that consumes it - increases with tragedy.

I had an amazing time with @discocactus.bsky.social at CMU this past week! Getting to work with DiscoCactus in an educational environment has been a dream of mine for a while, and we had a great time working with the students and performing in their beautiful hall.
