🔭I loved CalSky🛰️the app to that tells you what you will see if you look up at the sky tonight. 🪐 I waited for someone to recreate it after it went offline but no-one did so I created it myself...💫

V2.7 is live. SkyCal now has the sky track of satellite passes including sun, moon and planet locations for reference if they are above the horizon.
This is big one and I'm a bit nervous if I'm honest.
Enjoy.

I’m building an Astro cam.
I’ve got a pi camera and I’ve removed the IR cut filter which blocks IR light from the sensor.
I want to attach the camera to my Pentax/ sigma lens and telescope. I’m designing a part to hold my new HA filter and hold the lens aperture open!

The Moon this evening, at 36% illuminated. Bit out of practice! Nice to have a bit of time to take and process.

I just did a cheeky update.
V2.8 just landed. Turns out that adding moon phase diagrams wasn't a big deal so I just added those in my lunch break!

Blue for day, black for night - shows on moon events such as rise/set/culmination and phase

Lazy fix ($). All tests pass on staging. it should switch to production easily.

I think this will be the last release this year. Next year I'll be working on the backend getting everything ready for v3.0.

Having charts is a big deal and a nice milestone.

oof.

new release still doesn't stage.

Dev work has stop now. Dang. I'll come back to this later in the week. Really disappointed.
Just tried to push the sketcher update to skycalpro staging server and it failed. I freed up some diskspace and it now runs fine, but space is now "really tight" - I'm not sure how much more I can add to this server. I'm going to need a rethink on the 2026 roadmap
This is going to cost time/ money😔

Today is the winter solstice...

The shortest day and longest night of the year in a hemisphere, occurring when the Earth's axis is tilted farthest from the Sun, marking the start of astronomical winter and the moment the Sun reaches its lowest point in the sky!

It’s pizza night and we’re right out of salad cream. 😔

Made some chilli oil as a back up 😁

My family mock me for my salad cream and pizza habit.

I fear that those who are with me on the light bulb labels may now be distancing themselves..
