Since we’re in the mood, Switch friend code is SW-6878-1042-3606! Just lemme know so I know who is who!
I think Minneapolitans are an absolute inspiration to the rest of the world, showing the rise of the far right is not inevitable and we can and should stand up to them.
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

When people say AI is inevitable, it’s only inevitable if people actually allow it to be.

I adore tiny music venues, this place I went to last night was barely bigger than a living room!

This is Larcenia Roe, who supported for Born of Osiris last night.

Cryptopsy gig last night
January 19, 2026 at 11:21 AM
One of my plans this year was to start going to gigs again, so here I am. I don’t dwell on this but I used to go with my dad to metal and punk gigs so it’s a bit sobering being here by myself without him. Luckily my son had started taking an interest in my music, so one day he can come with me.

Just put on some big black cargo pants for the Cryptopsy gig tonight.

“Daddy why are you wearing Y2K trousers.”

fml what does that even mean 🙁

EMNW shirt is here. It looks massive but it’s only an M. They don’t even make S size.

Replaying Panzer Dragoon Saga for the first time since 1998 and it’s still utterly fantastic. There’s not really another RPG like it so it still feels fresh and unique. It deserves its reputation.

Installed Dual SDRAM to my MiSTer so I can properly use the Saturn and Jaguar cores. Looks a bit janky now but it’s still mindblowing to have so many consoles condensed into such a small box.

Looking to rebuy a Dreamcast and surprised how expensive they seem to be these days. Significantly more than a PS2.

Apparently the top of right stick of the Switch Pro Controller 2 is very slightly thinner than the left stick. Do what you want with that information.

Absolutely blows my mind that Saturn fully works on MiSTer. Panzer Dragoon Saga is such an important game to me. In 1998 it was my first ever RPG - I didn’t even understand what ‘levels’ and ‘exp’ were!

I feel like the last major Windows program that doesn’t really have a good Linux alternative is Adobe Premiere. You can’t really use Davinci Resolve as a drop in replacement. Most other things have a reasonable alternative or web apps exist.

Good video. I’ve mainlined Linux for a year now and never look back. I dualboot Windows but seldom actually boot into Windows anymore.

Went into Flying Tiger today and while my wife was looking at the sales, the language nerd that I am was comparing the Danish to English on every item.

I feel a new Wolfenstein game where the US is run by Nazis would hit a bit too close to home.

One problem with physical - when you take your Switch 2 with you to work and realise you left the wrong game in. :(

Looks like I’m playing Tears of the Kingdom today.

Finally got a MiSTer now PS1, N64 and Saturn are fully working. Gonna upgrade it with dual SDRAM.

Bluetooth Saturn controller with some detachable phone holder for £2.50 at the charity shop. I already have a Bluetooth Saturn controller but wasn’t leaving this!

I just don’t have the energy for today’s news.

I’ve got a MiSTer on the way so picked up a controller for the N64 core. Also pictured are other controllers I intend to use with it .

I hate saying this because it makes me sound like a bootlicking corpo, but buy any going hardware you are planning to buy right now, and don’t sell. Don’t sit out on that £285 PS5. Things are going to get stupid this year thanks to Sam Altman and OpenAI buying 40% of global DRAM allocation.
ASUS will be increasing prices on various products from January 5, including the ROG Ally, to 'absorb increasing costs across the industry'

Reminder that you are in fact not obliged to pay the higher prices that corps are going to charge for gaming and computing. Absolutely do tell them to take a hike and keep using what you already own.

It’s not really a New Year’s resolution but this year I want to keep working hard at Japanese, go to way more gigs than I have been over recent years, and get back into video editing again which I used to do a lot.

The strongest advise I can give anyone is to not sell any gaming hardware, no matter how little you use it right now. All gaming hardware is going to skyrocket. I’m keeping my seldom-used PS5 just in case.
