@legaleagle.tv I'm curious about publicly operated social media for a truly public forum. Moderation needs to be part of that. Would First Amendment speech protections prevent federal or state govt from moderating? Or could this area be subject to regulation, like FCC oversight over broadcasting?

If you have Paramount+ I urge you to cancel. Firing Colbert looks awfully like caving to political media suppression.

It pains me to say this while Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is coming out. But I think Cpt Pike would be the first to say that freedom to criticize the government is more important.

Fair elections for the midterms next year are critical. Right now Trump is pressuring Texas to redistrict "to pick up 5 more seats".

Historian @hcrichardson.bsky.social talks about elections, how people might not notice what's going on, and similar manipulation in the 1890s youtu.be/b7A-3ieumCI?...

Middle Housing rezoning goes to #Berkeley city council vote tonight.

Big question is how many homes per lot.

Will it be a handful of large 2,000 sq ft+ houses, or will a larger number of smaller starter homes or flats also be allowed.

For best results we want flexibility for either. 1/

If you ever wonder if the fight is worth it, look at tonight.

A billionaire-backed candidate—with every advantage, every insider rooting for him—lost to a campaign built on nothing but people power.

The Democratic Party wanted to see him fail, but he won.

And we will, too.

There's this bill provision to prevent courts from enforcing contempt rulings so 47 can ignore all the laws. But if courts ignore that provision, what is the consequence? Is there any bottom to the game of ignoring law? www.findlaw.com/legalblogs/f...

Netanyahu is starving millions. After 18 months of attacks Palestinians depend on aid, which is blocked. 29 children and elderly starved to death. This week a trickle of aid was allowed - but not enough. Thousands of trucks are waiting, but are blocked.

Some quotes for #maythefourth #may4th from Nemik, a revolutionary in Andor:

"The pace of repression outstrips our ability to understand it. ... It's easier to hide behind 40 atrocities than a single incident."
