No gods, no masters, no pants. Just here to post my terrible opinions and excellent cat pictures.
There is a house on my commute that still has a whole gory skeleton battle going on in their front yard the week of thanksgiving. I salute our bravest fighters in the war on Christmas. Proud to honor the troops today.

The scene in The Thing where they test everyone’s blood is nothing short of a masterclass in building and holding narrative tension, god, it’s just incredible

It's hard to overstate how fully engaged Chicago and the surrounding suburbs are in this ICE madness. There are neighborhood watch alerts, spontaneous crowds gathering outside schools at pick up & drop off plus madly blowing whistles and honking car horns, this city is fighting back and hard.

When I went to Versailles a few weeks ago, I was surprised to find that my primary emotional reaction was one of utter disgust. I walked from room to crowded room and stood in massive, perfectly manicured gardens, and could think only, “yeah, they had to publicly behead these guys.”

As I wait for the plane to land I’m setting up the Île de France metro app and weeping with jealousy, as someone used to the Marta app. My god, the functionality. Imagine.

The duality of my job: a patient did something wildly fascinating that gave me a lot of important info about her neurological status and another patient shit her pants and got it all over the room.

About 2 months ago my pharmacy quietly switched their brand of generic Wellbutrin and it made me nauseous but so does everything, whatever. I then had 2 months of Struggle, just miserable lack of energy and feeling awful. I switched generics on Sunday and now I literally feel like a curse was lifted

I remember hearing that Massachusetts had legalized gay marriage and being stunned because it had never once occurred to me - a queer person - to even imagine such a possibility. And then it was legal all over the states.

And now.
Obergefell v. Hodges made me believe in the whole "arc of history bends towards justice." In the 90s, I didn't think gay marriage would be legalized in my lifetime because homophobia was so deeply ingrained. We would have never gotten here without the decision and now it may be overturned.
