Many commentators promised high and low that Trump would, in fact, be a benefit to Britain.

I would now like them all pulled into a studio and made to account for where their assertions came from.

Preferably while squirming.
The Men Who Promised Trump Would Save Britain Have Gone Terribly Quiet
Certainty was loud when it was convenient. Accountability, apparently less so.

One of the best things about Bearly Politics is the people around it.

This reader contribution from @metaphorqu.bsky.social is thoughtful, generous, and deeply relevant to where we are right now.

While I've been critical about the government, this did make me stop and think.

@danneidle.bsky.social and the team at Tax Policy Associates have been sharing their attached calculator - and it is a fantastic piece of work.

Having had a look at what a 2p increase in taxes would mean for my own income, it is, honestly, minimal and easily absorbable on a monthly basis.

Farage insists Reform isn’t racist.

I’ve got 20 documented cases that say otherwise.

When the fringe and the manifesto sing the same tune, you don’t have a crank problem - you have a culture problem.

It’s maths.

The Tabloid Witch Hunt of Rayner:

This isn’t just about tax. It’s about women being hounded and investigated for years as men who routinely do worse are ignored… I have the receipts to prove it and if the “crimes” aren’t there? Well, they just invent them.

I wonder if a Labour govt minister will register the legitimate concerns of the counter protesters who object to the racist intimidation of immigrants and asylum seekers?
Currently a stand off in Bristol. Around 80 anti-immigration protesters are being stopped from marching to a converted hotel by around 400 counter protesters, separated by a wall of police five officers-thick.

The threat to our society is not from asylum seekers in small boats. It’s from politicians and media cynically whipping up fear and prejudice, labelling them all as criminals, inciting hatred against people for where and what they’ve fled from.
It must stop. For all our sakes. It’s deeply sinister.

Hospitals are supposed to be where the suffering stops.

In Gaza, they are where the killing continues.

Channel 4's Gaza: Doctors Under Attack has exposed a terror campaign that sends a horrifying message:

No One Is Safe.
Not Even Here.
No One Is Safe. Not Even Here.
The destruction of Gaza’s hospitals marks a terrifying breach in the idea that healthcare is ever off-limits.
