Got distracted today & did a little experiment on ChatGPT 4o.

I told it I had a question about AI & asked it to suggest six experts to contact.

In one condition, I put "tough-minded and rigorous" before "experts".

In the other condition, I put "friendly and kind" before "experts".

I did 5 independent replications of each condition. So I got 30 names (some repeated) for each condition

Results:

"tough-minded and rigorous": 22/30 males, 8/30 females

"friendly and kind": 8/30 males, 22/30 females

Not really surprising, I guess....

Examples below.

(1) Parameters belong to models, not to real things. (2) We still don't know the brain's functional (as opposed to anatomical) units. (3) Whichever neural elements we choose, they are time-varying in structure and dynamics. - Hence, talking about the number of parameters in the brain makes no sense.
Neuroscientists, @erictopol.bsky.social has just declared w certainty that we know the number of “parameters” in the brain.

it seems to me that we don’t really even know what a parameter is in the brain, what the relevance of cell types is, how they line up with AI etc

Surprised by his certainty.
These are facts. Period
