You’re not imagining it: you may be paying more than your neighbour for the exact same item. Algorithms can now serve every individual an individual price tailored by their data, habits, and perceived desperation. Affordability has a new enemy. https://ow.ly/NCHy50XX0LQ

So, is everyone just deleting the bots that follow? It's like picking out the tiniest of tediums.

This year started with planting an orchard, and writing what I have just written made me think back on this piece I published in early 2024 on the first full orchard I planted from scratch, including sowing a new meadow. I love that space, but still worry about it now and again.

Quinces were half-forgotten, and are now half-wizened.

I think I can salvage them to be poached.

I feel like there is a lesson here…

Few months back, the BBC Food Programme ran an episode on Polish groceries: the what, when, and who you will find. And now that two of said shops have opened in Halifax, I am now inundated with smoked fish and fruity herbal tisanes. www.bbc.com/audio/play/m...

As someone who purchased this book, enjoyed it, and told many a food lover about it, I can tell you how much I enjoyed it. And would still buy it at full price.
I wrote a book a few years back. It's about food, but it's really about adventure and love and the secret to successful self-improvement.

And I see the hardcover version is now a mere $3.93 on Amazon.

Super cheap way to make anyone on your gift list laugh.
