Somehow i missed that you can now sideload apps on your ios devices.

I can run emacs on iSH but it's the CLI version and i wanted the GUI version.

There is UTM which lets you create VMs but you need to sideload it for JIT support.

Time to try to sideload some apps on my new iPad

i keep boxes from stuff i buy or get at work and have a bunch of ones from apple products. i stripped them down then covered them with nice paper

i bought this huge bag of leather coasters at the thrift store hoping to use them as scrap leather.

then i looked up sequoia pacific systems aka sequoia voting systems and found out they are responsible for the hanging chad incident among others

heres another cute little book! the paper is 32# and way too thick for a tiny book but i used the offcuts from my January notebook to test with
photo of a small book about 2 inch by 3 inch with an orange cover. the cover on both sides is the same thick paper and stitched into the signatures. the cover has slits for the thread to go through and the thread goes over the top and bottom of each signature and cover. this gives the impression of stitched headbands the book is held closed with a bone folder. in the background you can see a ligher, awl and other tools book open to first page and you can see my hot pink finger nails and how the cover has a nice folded flap book is allowed to spread open on the desk and all the signatures fan out with almost no effort. photo of the top of the book showing the way the binding threads go into each signature

new notebook design printed and bound for January 2026!

i managed to use typst to make a nice notebook layout with dot grid, monthly overviews, daily spreads with time blocks on the left page and blank on the right.

all the text aligns in the dot grid cells properly and everything! the biggest complaint i have is the gui preview does not show alignment

want to typeset a notebook with some sections for calendar, notes, tasks, etc with dot grid. sort of like a bullet journal.

then i can print it out and bind it to use!!

just learned about typst while researching how to do this in latex. since i forget most of the latex i knew maybe i'll try typst

made two little books out of more vintage paper acquired from the thrift store!
photo of my desk with a cutting mat covered in tools and two books. the tools are some craft knives, bone folder, giant wiss scissors, spool of waxed thread, lighter, owl paper clips, awl, needle, and ruler. the smaller book is sown with coptic stitch and is about 2" by 2.5". the cover is made of the kind of paper you use to wrap battery cells with and it a dark green with a fibrous but smooth look. the larger book is about 4.5" by 5.5" but has yet to be trimmed. this is sown with a french link stitch which leaves a bunch of cool X patterns along the spine. the over for this was a manila folder. the paper in both is some southworth racerase 25% cotton paper in a mostly white color. it is 20lb weight and has nice watermarking on some pages
