Now that the amiable 'son of a toolmaker' and eminent human rights lawyer has delivered the UK into the hands of corporations and fascists, his handlers have no further use for him.

He'll be gone soon

I feel like Labour have let me down so badly that even once they're out of power... and some of them continue to campaign from the sidelines...

i'm not going to forget this.

I'll see Blue Labour types like Shabana Mahmood and Morgan Mcsweeney as the Riyadh Comedy Festival acts of UK politics.

One of the most shameful incidents of WW2 was when the government and press scapegoated refugees, then decided to pack them off an a cramped ship, The HMT DUNERA and ship them to Australia.

As they boarded the boat they were stripped of the valuables and robbed by the guards.

Now government policy

A final thought for tonight. I did not expect different from Boris Johnson, Bravermann and Patel. I cannot stress enough my utter contempt and disgust that a Labour government would try to outdo these nasty bile spewers.
Disgust isn’t strong enough. I feel outrage and utter utter contempt…

I wanted Mr Starmer and his government to change the direction of this country into a more pleasant place improving people’s lives. What I have got instead is a government desperately trying to outdo previous abhorrent governments with their rhetoric regarding the most vulnerable. Shameful

Keir Starmer’s party just like the German Social Democrats will become a non entity and deservedly so. Cruel and bile spewing policies aimed at trying to win over Reform voters and other nasties will drive away core progresssive and left leaning voters. Any empathetic human being should be ashamed.

Cruel. Callous. Cowardly.

The public are seeing this Labour government for exactly who they are.

We all have a responsibility to make them pay at the ballot box.

Reject the hate. Reject them.

This is not who we are. Let's make hope normal again.

Farage dictated government policy under the Conservatives.

Now he's dictating government policy under Labour.

When will the UK get a political leader with the courage to stand up to this aristo-populist demagogue?

There is a political alternative that won’t ever scapegoat those fleeing war, persecution and torture

People are probably calling Labour racist because Labour keep being racist. If they want to stop being called racist they should stop doing racist things.

Even with my bedrock low opinion of Labour, I was clinging to some shred of hope that even they would realise that stealing the last remaining possessions of people who have fled for their lives was a disgusting policy. Turns out there isn't a bottom to this particular barrel they are scraping.
For fairly obvious reasons when people flee their countries of origin to seek asylum elsewhere they can't carry much. Often things like jewellery are all they have to hold onto. This isn't just stripping people of "assets", it is stealing their memories. 57/

What the fuck is wrong with them?!

Seriously.
Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

Sadly I overheard this in a local supermarket sprouted by a bile spewer who sadly had a point. Starmer is despised by the far right despite his pandering and that is not going to change whatever he does. Now sadly his government is also despised by progressive lefties like me …

Intrigued that the Labour Party has a Denmark policy - seize jewellery and assets from asylum seekers - and also an anti-Denmark policy - don’t tax middle earners enough to support welfare state.

People on the Far Right want to deport or exterminate all the groups they don't like.

Not the same.

it is wild that Labour is doing exactly what the reactionary centrists recommend and is absolutely destroying its base of support as a result, and yet reactionary centrists in the US are just utterly silent about the complete failure of their program.

Sadly this is one hundred percent true. It is utterly despicable and shameful from a Labour Party that will never ever see my vote again under the current crop of politicians.
For Shabana Mahmood to attack some of the most cruelly treated people in the world as having won a "golden ticket" because they manage to get to and claim asylum in Britain is unforgiveable.

A new, far right, low for which I can think of no precedent, by any UK Government.
