Remarkable film. Andre de Toth’s trademark no-fat filmmaking makes sure to constantly foreground the moral stakes and to acknowledge the sadness and struggle that helped elevate the Nazis while never ignoring that the ppl who embraced them did so precisely so their worst traits could run riot
from a rabbi's deeply moving speech in the middle of None Shall Escape, an excellent anti-Nazi film made while WWII was still raging. Maddeningly resonant

It’s funny how Spider-Man has maybe the longest unbroken stretch of quality of any comics title, with it being broadly considered v good to great from creation all the way through the early-‘90s, and then the second they hit it with ‘90s Marvel insanity it’s like never really recovered

I like how Hickman’s thing on ultimate spider-man is making me wonder if it’s going anywhere before making a complete fool out of me for doubting him.

Give us games in the Ultimate Universe, Marvel., I'd love to play an Ultimate Spider-Man game as either Peter or Richard, or an Ultimate X-Men game styled as a JRPG where we play as Mei as she forms her group of X-Men in Japan, so much potential to be gained
As critical as I am about Marvel's Ultimate Universe and DC's Absolute universe, there's no denying that both have REAL momentum in a way average comics struggle to achieve.

If these companies really want these universes to succeed in a big way, more needs to be put into them.

Here are some drawings of the time MJ thought she was coming over for a superbowl party only to remember that she has a crush on a huge nerd and when he says "game day" he means something else entirely.
Luckily, MJ is not beaten so easily.

Man, look at that composition. The huge profile framing the page, the distinctive silhouette of Mary Jane's pose, the different outfits and stylings on Gwen to suggest the wide range of memories both Mary Jane AND John Romita have of her... JR SR was indisputably one of the best to ever do it
Tbh I really, really love John Romita, Sr.

I think this is a big reason why I have such a hard time getting into Wonder Woman, DC’s interpretation of Greek Mythology is so goddamn boring and bog standard that it makes the biggest aspect of her entire mythos feel undercooked and uninteresting compared to everyone else
Ares being a Wonder Woman villain is also just one of those things that on paper I totally get, but when you actually look at Greek Myth, Ares thought the Amazons were cool cuz they’re a bunch of badass warriors that don’t take shit from anyone. Hell a couple fought on his side in the Trojan War

I think I’ve figured out what it is

I already got the Superman I’ve wanted for the past decade in My Adventures, so as a result I don’t really see a need for this movie on my end anymore because whatever it does I’m just gonna be subconsciously comparing it to MAWS
(I really wish I was excited for the Superman movie)

Bluesky is so boring.

There's no torment algorithm pushing brain-melting takes and qoute-tweet grifters onto my timeline in order to maximize ad views through rage scrolling.

All I see is cool art, jokes and thought-provoking takes that aren't custom tailored to make me angry.

0/10 website tbh

Women on the Run: At times, a sadistic exploitation but one wherein Corey Yuen & David Lai locate some genuine heart, often owed to the fantastic leads, Tamara Guo & Farini Cheung who turn this into a kinda wacky, very lovely buddy cop romp. Wild stunts & GREAT fights. So good.

Making Sam Wilson into Captain America was genuinely one of those absolutely awesome legacy character ideas that I’m glad has stuck. I wish Sam would get more of the spotlight these days though. I don’t think Steve needs another solo, it’s Sam’s time now

They don’t even have the full Fantastic Four in the game yet but you got Reed Richards doing One Piece moves and suddenly everyone wants to check out Fantastic Four stuff it really is that easy sometimes
Marvel Rivals proving that all you gotta do to actually get people into comics is just put the characters in something people would actually see them in, and then those people will think those characters are cool and will want to learn more about them and start actually looking into the comics

Keep seeing people say the Paul vs Tyson fight was rigged.

I'm going to refute this, not because I’m defending Jake Paul, but because I want people to understand the specific scam that’s happening.

When you dont understand how you're being scammed, it just means it can happen again:

thinking about hickman’s avengers tonight, how that saga is all about how the only constant we get in life is death and the modes we take as people due to that constant is to either try to eliminate the inevitable only to just prolong it or to speed it up and let it happen.
