Many, many doctors have reported that a denial suddenly turns to an approval the instant they request this information! Because the doctors employed by insurance companies as "peer medical reviewers" are very often unqualified, practicing out of scope, or have a long history of malpractice.

And the proof that insurance companies know their "experts" are unqualified: one of the most effective tactics your doctor can use to override a denial of benefits is to request, in writing, the name and board specialty of the denying physician and proof of their qualifications.
