Those doom-posting about how law is meaningless and he's just going to throw everyone in camps are giving up before the game has even begun. We aren't there yet — but the chances of that happening in the future go up if you stop trying.

The New Deal actually offers a model here. Its architects saw democracy and prosperity as intricately intertwined and, moreover, knew they had to *promote* the idea that they were connected.
the challenge is building out an alternative cultural story that connects prosperity to solidarity and democracy. that *convinces* people that you can be a success without climbing over others. i don’t know where that will come from! i think it is something that you’ll ultimately have to find.
