This is some shady shit. I'm guessing the board used their nominations cttee to exclude this candidate but aren't being transparent about criteria. Maybe there's a legal case to be made.
Last month, thousands of Co-op members petitioned REI to include Shemona Moreno as a candidate in the 2025 Board election. But, REI simply refused to put her on the ballot, and they didn’t offer any explanation as to why.

Telling folks to just "plug in to community" rn is well-meaning and if you can do that, wonderful. But most people are not super connected to community for many reasons. So, if you don't have community rn that's ok, consider finding 2-5 ppl you can form a pod with.
