Good to hear @andybeshear.bsky.social announce a new paid parental leave benefit for state employees! Its long-overdue and will put Kentucky in line with similar public and private employers across the state, and our country.

ICYMI, we made the case for it last week:

The Case for Paid Parental Leave for Kentucky State Employees - Kentucky Center for Economic Policy
A growing number of public and private entities across Kentucky offer paid parental leave but Kentucky’s state employees have no such benefit.

This is the thing. From decades before the social internet accelerated it all, we've had a genuinely terrifying number of Americans sliding further and further into an alternate reality while the real world gets more complex and more frustrating around them. You can't fight that with policy changes.
Oann, Fox News, Newsmax, Brietbart, twitter, Sinclair, AM radio etc all exclusively exist to distract the plebs with fights over immigrants and the gayness of m&ms while oligarchs sell the country for scrap off the back loading dock and it's been a multi-decade project that's in no way subtle
