My journal paper argues for a systems approach to AI and education in a post-digital world. AI is not a single tool but a series of disruptions. Outlines an agenda to reduce systemic blockers, build resilience, design more robust policy. #aieducation www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

I hear that EU countries are planning to build their own national LLMs - France (already, with Mistral), Germany, Netherlands, Norway and doubtless others, in the belief that only their own AI model will match their language, culture and security. National necessity, or a waste of money and energy?

From my talks with unis about GenAI, main concerns are data security and accuracy of responses. Worth considering open-model GenAI - free to use, can run locally, now as powerful as GPT-4, no data sent outside, can be customised. The New OpenAI advanced voice model could have as big an impact on HigherEd as ChatGPT. Any education provider could offer online Oxford-style tutorials and seminars, on any subject, facilitated by AI. You are right to be sceptical - but this will confuse a global HE sector. #academicsky #ai
