Cat dad and northern lad. Hillwalker. Probably “woke”. Sometime korfballer. Music, food and travel. And history and architecture. #NUFC
North-eastern England.
Like Reform? Passionate about flags? You’re going to hate me.

"Labour Alienating Rural People by opposing hunts" lads I'm gonna be real with you the purpose of a social democratic party is not to speak for the country squire

If we were to lose at Burnley and at home against Leeds does that start to really call into question Howe’s position?

I’m not saying I’m domestically slobby but I’ve just gone to the fridge to get the remains of the cranberry sauce and I did indeed retrieve it. The remnants from last Christmas.

Wondering how many days it is before I need to reapply the veneer of bonhomie and agreeability. Also, it’s just the two of us and cats this evening. I’ll be eating myself into a cheese coma.

As someone who has a close relative with dementia, we’d absolutely never do this. It’s neither right nor fair and it raises questions about what other stuff they’re doing that she’s been told she’s consented to. I hope the Court of Protection are taking note.
The comments on this are all about how sweet it is and I feel insane. Using AI to make fake memories of your grandma with dementia and telling her they happened and then filming her reaction

Extremely funny to call the pope “holier-than-thou”

Pretty much all of them. Forgot to do it this year but next Advent I’m thinking about doing a blog post every day about a particularly Christmas song and why I hate it. And I’m starting with Frosty the Snowman. Just when you meet a cool new friend he ghosts you by melting. Twat.
What's a popular Christmas song that you really don't like? 🎄

We’re watching a dvd of some sort of Christmas variety performance from 1993 from the Royal Albert Hall. OH is somewhere in the choir. Seems to be some sort of retelling of the Old Testament with people dressed as pigs and kangaroos.

Feeling a bit annoyed with myself. Have totally mistimed how long the turkey will take to properly cook (stupid oven) and we could have done with more sprouts and pigs in blankets.
Not going to beat myself up or get annoyed. Just going to chill. Where is the wine?

The NORAD Tracks Santa thing is cool, but no way should they let the current President talk to children.

Because of the Epstein stuff.

Happy Christmas everyone! Hope you mark the day in the way you see appropriate (go all in or not at all as you prefer).
Now we’re all over here we don’t need to tell Jacob Rees Mogg to get stuffed when he posts something about the birth of our Lord in Latin.

I wish I could remember where it was and I hope my mum didn’t throw it out but we had, when I was growing up, a book entitled something like “An Irish Christmas”. It had various poems, stories (I recall some sort of ghost story about a headless horseman who only appeared at Christmas) and sundry 1/2

Suddenly urging human decency is a provocative act. I say suddenly, it’s always been counter cultural. Particularly for the Mail.
Right wing press having a real normal one about this Christmas Day message.

Does anyone think we should be spending £476m on cruelty towards vulnerable people?

But what does Barry from Kettering, former supporter of the BNP, and current Reform UK voter, think? He’s the only one that matters.

Nearly there. Four more hours to work this year.

If I like you, or just think you’re a good cove, I’ll probably take the opportunity to wish you a happy Christmas and all the very best for you and yours over the next few days.

I hope Alison’s turkey isn’t cooked through and she stands on a three pin plug running to the bathroom.
