I’m excited for this - and yes I live in a ‘tram and transport zone’ in the inner west. Lots to review and comment on. Needs to be coupled with investment in public spaces and safe movement infrastructure 🤞

Exciting next steps for planning for more housing in Melbournes activity centre - public transport based centre along new metro train line. Ambitious housing targets but you’ve gotta have a plan!

Planners - pay attention. We’re reasonably good with riverine flooding when mapped, arguably not quite as good with forest fire.

This is some pretty pro housing statement from the Vic state government. Take a read and post your favourite quote!
Aggressively pushing inner and mid city development instead of just greenfield growth. This is a real, good step forward (with some caution!)

If Councils Won't Unlock Space For More Homes – We Will
More homes mean more opportunity – that’s why the Allan Labor Government is setting clear housing targets in every Victorian local government area for councils, government and industry to deliver over...

Good news story that’s needed at the moment. Does Melbourne need congestion pricing?
Congestion pricing in New York City is a month old. What are the results? Less crime as subway ridership up, less cars, less traffic, more people walking around, and increasing popularity. Here's a thread of recent stories about it.

First time listener!
Great reminder of the importance of good planning and providing spaces for small businesses as a driver for activity.
New episode is up! We talk to Derek Guy, @dieworkwear.bsky.social—aka the Menswear Guy—about how dense, walkable cities influence what people wear, what the great fashion capitals of the world have in common, how the housing crisis is affecting style, and much more. thewaroncars.org/2025/01/07/1...

A Melbourne classic
A friendly reminder that if you’re in traffic, you ARE traffic.

This is truly outstanding. I want this too!
“It's amazing how pollution has dropped in #Paris in 15 years. @annehidalgo.bsky.social has filled the city with bike-lanes & not only has she reduced pollution by 40% but she’s also been re-elected.”

Trading car space for green space, bike space, kid space…trading pollution for people. Good trade.
Es alucinante cómo ha bajado la contaminación en París en 15 años. Anne Hidalgo lo ha llenado todo de carriles bici y no sólo ha reducido la contaminación en un 40%, sino que ha sido reelegida.
