Write & ask PM Carney to fund a National Citizens Assembly on Healthcare for these 3 core issues:

1) Jurisdiction
2) For Profit vs Non-Profit delivery
3) At Fault vs No-Fault harm in care compensation.

As Alberta is demonstrating before our very eyes, a government with ill intent towards the people it governs can abuse its power under S33, and that is unacceptable.

@nationalnewswatch.com any journalists want to talk about health jurisdiction in Canada?

Like, what does it buy Canadians / patients and health workers?

We know it makes a lot of duplicate bureaucratic work and lacks accountability.

Carney is looking more … ?

1 national plan is cheaper

#cdnhealth national citizens assembly on HC.

"The eight recommendations are clear. The minister and government could start a national pharmacare program today if they wanted, without any new legislation, without any new bilaterals,"

From ⤵️
"Health Minister Marjorie Michel is dismissing the key finding of an expert advisory committee on pharmacare, which says Ottawa should fully fund a list of essential medicines without cutting deals with the premiers."

Did they consider calling medicine 'business'? Might help.

Listening to CBC, I think Carney is going to loose progressive support on the tanker ban exemption.

Great summary of the current state of the United Conservative Party:
“What we are seeing in Alberta right now isn’t random.
It’s a gov’t trying to survive by polarizing its way forward.
Not by fixing healthcare.
Not by improving education.
Not by protecting rights.”

The trouble with the UCP's dual practice model?

Think about a double double.

If the line at Tim’s is long because there’s only one person pouring coffee, opening an “express lane” for people who tip $20 doesn’t speed things up. It means those with more money get the coffee while others wait.
Back in school, I wrote an essay about how two-tier healthcare would improve access for everyone.

It makes intuitive sense: create a second line and the original one gets shorter, right?

A better look at the evidence and arguments like Picard's changed my mind. 🧵
Picard’s point on AB’s new “dual practice” plan: evidence shows letting surgeons bill public & private won’t fix wait times, it likely lengthens them, drains staff from public hospitals, adds red tape, and undermines access.
