Everything stated in this post is a provable fact.

the head of US intelligence warned years ago that the data being collected on Americans domestically is so intrusive and granular that it inherently constitutes blackmail material. they didn’t schedule a press conference or rail against it at symposiums. they just bought more of the data.

The video evidence is what I always come back to when I think of Jan. 6. We @propublica.org created this interactive piece of videos that Parler users recorded and uploaded from their own POV that day, and it remains as disturbing today as it was then.

What Parler Saw During the Attack on the Capitol
ProPublica sifted through thousands of videos taken by Parler users to create an immersive, first-person view of the Capitol riot as experienced by those who were there.

My New Years resolution is what it always has been: Keep learning and growing as a person so that it is easy to accept the things I did not know and unlearn the things that I did.

With the rose tinted glasses of history, the same people who saw the Supreme Court rule Roe v. Wade in their lifetime, overturned the same law that helped reduce the 10-15% of newborns that were killed or abandoned to die throughout history. 👏🏼

when you have anti-DEI proponents openly going after black military officers for recruiting from HBCUs and suing schools for their black and Hispanic enrollment *even after the schools ended any racial preferences* then the only honest label for these people is "segregationist"
I genuinely think we should start calling businesses and schools falling to the anti-DEI movement “segregationists” because they are re-segregating. And earlier rounds of segregationists *also* explained their preferred policy in race-neutral terms (“state’s rights” and “freedom of association”).

You don't need to be an expert to know that neither of these people should be allowed anywhere near important decision-making positions.
I bet the one thing all the experts agree on is that neither of these clowns should be remotely involved in matters of public health

People die refusing ambulance services in America because we don't want to go into lifelong debt and deal with collection agencies if we live. Most of us won't even go in for a routine exam. I haven't seen a dentist in over a decade. I think I'd much rather face your outrage than my reality.

I think a lot about this quote from Anaïs Nin’s diary from 1939-1944:

“America is in even greater danger because of its cult of toughness, its hatred of sensitivity, and someday it may have to pay a price for this, because atrophy of feeling creates criminals”.

Me, a public health person, just sitting over here reflecting on the fact that the US has experienced a 7% increase in infant mortality post-Dobbs.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?

If I talk about common sense gun laws in the aftermath of yet another school shooting, they'll wear AR pins inside of government buildings and rally with the CEO of the NRA. But if I say I dont care about the death of a single CEO, they'll say I lack empathy.
