This is a great thread @hillsguy.bsky.social, I'll add a bit more context here for anyone interested.

Yes there's no fancy sim - it just uses a water interaction buffer as a target for the particle system rendering, so we could use the power of particle system we already have.
Decided to check out how water is rendered in Counter-Strike 2.

Given how interactive water in CS2 is, I expected to see some cellular fluid simulation, but turns out they just use a low-resolution off-screen buffer with flat 2D decals used for various aspects of water. Reminds me of HL2 water :)

Made a scene for this months Mapcore Challenge, lighting an environment using only two colors. Didn't think much about it, just wanted to make something.

As a side project, I've been going back to my roots in Minecraft. While I had a separate account on Twitter for MC, might say fuck it and post a bit here and there on my main.

Anyway, here's a rig I've been working on here and there. I really feel like I've got the hang of Blender rigging.

Still really happy with how this fireplace turned out for de_whistle. The texturing is a bit flat, but I'm more happy that I finished it. I had it mostly modeled for weeks before I textured it, which is a pattern I often follow x)
