Trying to remember how to post about data and dad jokes
Earlier today I was forced to talk to a real human being. And my AI made all sorts excuses for letting me down. AI these days take no responsibility. Who raised them?

Over the course of your career, how many “why doesn’t the data match” meetings have you been in? And, follow up, would you be better served devoting your life to finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow?

Folks who describe themselves as being "in tech" are often super driven people, passionate about making an impact on the world. So we put a lot of our existential eggs in the career basket.

I'm wondering if some of the current dissatisfaction is coming from our careers not meeting those needs?

It must be virtually 100%. 90% seems plausible to me for sure. The industry has made it abundantly clear that there is no incentive to perform well, and most shops aren’t interested in quality software, just anything hacked together that makes money is good enough.

Product managers and designers get credit for all kinds of things that didn't literally do, because they rightfully recognize that they're part of the team that built something. This is no different from the role a data professional plays.
