Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously.

Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.

Too often the truth is a single guy carrying a grocery bag while the other side is a line of tanks directed by a government.

We're not fighting back on the same scale. It's not legal for my government to fight back in the same way.

We do have the truth. That helps a ton, but it's not enough alone.

I don't know how to fix it. I don't have an easy solution. Knowing that you're interacting with real people with their actual approximate location (state/county) would help, as the Twitter posts labeled from Russian cities has shown. But that's not easy to execute, and may not do enough.

It's too easy to bury the truth when the opposition can create dozens of arguments against you. Or better yet, some of those can pretend to be on your side.

The opposition isn't arguing against a strawman if they can get someone to argue that strawman on your behalf. They *can* create that.

Anonymous social media is too easy to manipulate.

The idea behind the free exchange of ideas is that the better ideas and the truth should shine through. The issue is that, especially on social media, it's not a fair fight.

On social media it's too easy to create dozens of "people".

“WE are the federal law,” Trump says.

Claiming a leader embodies the law is part of fascism.
President Trump sparred with Maine’s Democratic Gov. Janet Mills during a meeting of governors at the White House, with Mills telling the Trump, “We’ll see you in court,” over his push to deny federal funding to the state over transgender athletes.

Americans voted for cheaper groceries. Less than a week on the job and Trump's already managed to get us into a trade war that will drive up the cost of coffee and be a gut-punch to American farmers and manufacturers, all because Colombia hurt his feelings.

Not that it matters anymore, as I barely use Twitter and I have to think most who still do are seriously reconsidering it, but Elon Musk has just confirmed that if his fans (the only people paying to use Twitter) do not like you, his algorithm decimates your reach
