Decided I couldn't handle my multiple Bksy personalities on main any longer and split off a fandom account so I would feel free to engage more on both.

If I follow you here, it's because I either know you or want to! 🖤

Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)

Hey can we bring back all those internet safety campaigns we had when I was a millennial teen? It is NOT my job to parent someone else's kids and have to submit my ID to places to sanitize the internet for some puritanical outrage about kids. Parents should be doing this themselves.

Oh, Anne 😫 She was ahead of her time in many ways.

(I have read that book and remember liking it, but that's the only thing I remember about it, which might say something)

This is interesting, and maybe I've been too hard on her for her female characters so often being detached and cool. It's frustrating.

Anne Rice in her book about reverting to Christianity, just straight up saying why she doesn't write as many female characters, for exactly the reasons I always assumed she didn't:

I fell headfirst down the Heated Rivalry rabbit-hole over the holidays, but I had too many other projects to focus on to do as much online yelling as I would've liked. Well... I still have far too many projects, but @assortedpuzzlepcs.bsky.social and I went and did a thing anyway. Enjoy ✨

In my experience, talent is a *detriment* to learning.

I didn't have to practice early on so I *didn't know how*. I didn't start to learn how to practice until my 30s! (When much of my life was taken up with parenting, so I didn't have time!)

I didn't start to improve as a musician until my 40s!
I'm going to say this again in case you haven't heard this one: I was a talented writer and it did *nothing whatsoever* because I hadn't put in the work, and I put in the work for ten years (subtracting the bit where I had to quit for my mental health) to write Witchmark

talent alone could *never*

I just saw Alan Cumming speaking eloquently about Heated Rivalry and the need for many more types of queer stories and now I’m imagining a world where he does a masterpiece mystery style intro to some gay show from around the world on PBS. This is the world we could live in

Ita so quinessentially Hozier, dark and deliciously fucked up but framed as a soft love song.
And absolutely a DM vibe.

NFWMB remains my fave Hozier song of all time, and when I first saw the line of the Yeats poem he references as inspo quoted on Daniel's LinkedIn page, I had to go take a moment to lay down.

I know this is a profoundly unoriginal take, but this is why Shakespeare is still awesome: the times change, but people don’t. When performed, rather than read, his work is a portal demonstrating the unity of humanity across time and space. There is comfort and tragedy in that reality.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.
