I agree with this, and I am wondering, while Bluesky promises *they* won’t use our posts to train data, with all our posts open and only a suggestion to respect our privacy settings, nothing is stopping other people from scraping our posts, is there.

In my estimation, BlueSky is far less safe for users than Twitter was before Apartheid Clyde took over.

BSky is now the better choice, but less safe than I would like it to be.

There is no option for going private, for example.

The thing about folks saying everyone who came here will eventually run back to Twitter “like we always do” is it ignores the idea of critical mass. Previously, we, meaning Black Twitter, ran back bc no app reached critical mass. There was not enough of us to maintain momentum & foster community.
The definition of critical mass: the minimum size or amount of something required to start or maintain a venture. "a communication system is of no value unless there is a critical mass of users"
