We've all mislaid our keys, but this one made it to the other side of the world! The Library and Archives were delighted when Adelaide Botanic Garden recently arranged for donation of a key that was previously owned by Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck - granddaughter of King George III #KewLA

Back at work this week and I wanted to share something that's actually a cool history post and not just, like, anti-imperialist rage. This is a Buddhist 'dharani' amulet found in a tomb at Chang'an (modern Xi'an) in northern China. It was *printed* (probably by monks) circa 650-670 CE.

Just found this print from what is in English titled 'A New Herbal, or Historie of Plants' by Rembert Dodoens in mid-16th century showing 'Medica' which neatly shows the spiral pods of what we would call Medicago sativa sativa, Lucerne or Alfalfa, in photo on the right. 🤗

The stunning Coffeepot Crater - the site of one of Oregon's most recent volcanic eruption (~3200 years ago) - with a large hole in the lava field from the collapse of a lava tube. Just behind the crater, on the right, are smaller spatter cones that formed along the fissure. #Photography
