Max has been providing consistently important reporting on the state of science and the scientific workforce under the Trump administration. It's hard to see this as anything other than a reprisal for coverage that has been factual (not flattering).
I'm at the Willard Hotel where I've been denied entry and kicked out of the Reclaiming Science event with NIH director Bhattacharya & other top agency leaders.

@jocelynkaiser.bsky.social and I registered for the event months ago yet were told capacity was full, even as they let in dozens of others.

The US's massive clean energy manufacturing boom is being cancelled. If the US wants to catch up, US manufacturing needs to have the scale to compete on the global stage. We need more action to avert the worst climate disasters.

This reminded me of an unbiasedness example. Coin has Pr(heads)=p. If your first flip is tails, stop (N=1). If your first flip is heads, flip it a million times. The only unbiased estimate of p is to use the first flip only, ignoring 1 million flips even if you have them. That feels…problematic.

2025 is the year where "my ignorance is better than your knowledge" took over far too much of the zeitgeist. Time to reassert that reality exists, and that reality is a higher power than personal taste.
The healthiest thing for me to do right now is to fight ignorance and I'm taking the kid gloves off.
