Gen X latchkey kid raised on hose water and trauma. I’d much prefer to live focused on compassion, kindness and peace but currently feeling more FAFO than sugar, spice and nice. Little salty.
After processing some shock/anxiety around the current state of….things, I’ve started writing again, over on Substack. I’ll be posting regular posts there under “Dispatches from Insanitus.” Here’s the latest post, if you’re interested. Free to subscribe.

It's the Musk Effect. Someone who sounds like a genius until he starts talking about something you're knowledgeable about, and you realize he's saying the dumbest shit ever.
Air traffic controllers are required by law to retire at 56. It is a high-stress, high-intensity job that requires intense focus. The retirement rules are there to keep us all safe. This fucking guy has no clue what's he's doing.

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...

Please read this thread.
If you cannot call it what it is when all in a week: a government removes every mention of a group of people, destroys information about them en masse, bans their discussion in schools, restricts their ability to travel and starts seizing and refusing their official identification, when will you?

Hello fellow folks trying out Bluesky and other platforms so we can get off Meta! So is Feeds basically the equivalent of Groups on FB? I have some Groups whose community I deeply value and trying to figure out where to find that vibe/migrate groups to.

Dave wrote Facebook’s first content moderation rules and is the least hysterical person I know. If he says Meta’s changes are politically designed to accommodate Trump, believe him. 👇🏻
Instead, these below-the-fold changes are very clearly designed to avoid having to penalize people like Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene for the increasingly dehumanizing language they use against these specific groups. You can tell because of the changes they *didn't* make. 🧵 9/11

And here we are.
Let me state this is bluntly as I can, as a biographer of both Donald Trump and Elon Musk: Vladimir Putin is now inside the U.S. government, with visibility into absolutely everything. He has that access through Trump, Musk, and David Sacks.

We are fully infiltrated. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/13/u...

He’s on the patio. He’s on the golf course. Everywhere Donald Trump looks, there is the world’s richest man.
