Flip the parties, but this playbook sounds familiar.
Soft secession

Legislation creates a Federal Tax Escrow Account in the state treasury. Instead of employers forwarding collected federal taxes to Washington, they send them to the state. The state holds the money in escrow. A legislative panel reviews federal spending for constitutional compliance.

I kinda think Canada should proudly claim the Battlestar Galactaca approach to AI.
This whole thread.
“The Liberal government plans to use its buying power to spur the development of data centres in Canada, but won’t yet commit significant sums to fund projects itself.”

Lots to unpack here, including many questions that probably should’ve been answered before Carney decided on his AI strategy.

Premier Smith's Chief of Staff, Rob Anderson, would be OUTRAGED teachers were stripped of their freedom of expression... if he wasn't a huge hypocrite.

Premier Smith is lying that she was not aware what theTrudeau government’s plan were on immigration and was surprised by the numbers because here is a letter she wrote to the PM asking to increase Alberta’s allocation of immigrants in 2024. www.alberta.ca/system/files...

"I learned actual facts from David Staples" is about the biggest self-own I can think of.
WOW!!

Smith threw her staff under the bus hard today!

In defense of her continuation of the "Alberta is calling" campaign, she claimed that she learned about the federal immigration policies & impacts not from briefings...

But from a tweet.

The year is 2028. The AFL sues The NDP government for some nebulous reason. The NDP government settles by paying AFL $15 million out of court. Doesn't explain why. Everyone moves on. Really?
This story deserves more attention. The UCP govt handed over tens of millions of taxpayer dollars and is now refusing to explain why.

Smith is utilizing school boards to send out this letter to parents…

But missing from it in all of the spin is the fact that she REVOKED teachers charter rights.

Almost as if she knows that what she did was an overreach and parents would be appalled.

Anyone else catch his "well classroom problems are caused by immigrants coming from *outside* Canada, not immigrants from *inside* Canada"? (I am paraphrasing)
Vassy Kapelos nails all the issues (and brings receipts) for the Education Minister. His responses were all canned talking points about Alberta teachers being the highest paid in western Canada.
