@baseballsusan.bsky.social Clay Risen’s thread in response to Ms. Lopatto’s post is (at least to me) quite illuminating.

@baseballsusan.bsky.social Well, it’s now (almost) official. How long before we won’t be able to differentiate CBS from Fox?

@baseballsusan.bsky.social Could you have imagined Robert Redford playing Ben Braddock in The Graduate instead of Dustin Hoffman? Me neither. 😂

@baseballsusan.bsky.social I was initially keen on this but with this bit of info, I suspect I’ll pass.
Ugh
Today is Clemente Day in Pittsburgh.

A new documentary called "Clemente" completely omits Clemente's union leadership and relationship to Martin Luther King.

The film heavily features his son, Roberto Clemente Jr., who endorsed Donald Trump.

Attn @govpritzker.illinois.gov; in case you hadn’t considered this, @asharangappa.bsky.social makes an excellent point.
The Supreme Court has original jurisdiction for disputes between states (meaning they can actually file the lawsuit there, rather than have it go up on appeal).

This would be a good time for Illinois to utilize it.

You don’t find “common ground” with fascists. You build power to defeat them. This is the main reason why I believe fascism at the Federal level in the US will last generations.

@ebharrington.bsky.social - I don’t know if you already follow @nick-carmody.bsky.social, but this tracks w/a lot of what he says. He cites one study in particular that lists the three professions where narcissists are most overrepresented, and one of them is , “CEO.”
This is why techbros & so many CEOs love this AI crap, despite its utter failure to perform basic tasks like arithmetic:

They aren't in business because they love technology or even commerce--they worked their way up the corporate ladder in order to be flattered, to be surrounded by sycophants.
Modern AI tools emulate the classic con-man tricks of mentalism, tricking people into believing that they’re far more clever - and sapient - than they actually are.

More simply put: “Law and order for thee, but not for me.”
Yes. And many of those same people who think the industrial scale sexual abuse of girls and women is just peachy keen are also perfectly fine with shredding the Constitution. They're authoritarians, and those two sets of beliefs go hand in hand.

As much as I miss my parents (both RIP), on more than one occasion I’ve felt very grateful that they’re no longer around to see what’s occurred in this country. It’s not just you, @ebharrington.bsky.social . 😢
Is anyone else having this weird whiplash feeling where they're missing a beloved someone who has died, but then think "I'm glad they aren't around to see Trump dismantle America"?

Essential reading from @therickwilson.bsky.social. I dare anyone to find any innaccuracy in this. And as a reluctant Texan, this hits especially close to home.

@schumer.senate.gov -
Heed this message from @stuartpstevens.bsky.social. He is correct both in his assessment of the current moment and how your actions now will define your place in the history books.
My plea to Democrats:

"This isn't a battle of your choosing. But it is the battle for which you will always be judged. This is the moment you must show the world and history which side of the Edmund Pettis Bridge you are standing on."

Give up on the idea that this will be easy or that there is a simple solution. It is the cumulative weight and fury of outrage that turns the tide.

@maxwellfrost.bsky.social is 💯 spot on.
I’m still processing what we saw in the Oval Office and it’s difficult to put into words how disgusted and ashamed I am.

This was a coordinated assault on an ally to benefit a dictator and authoritarian regime. Trump and Vance aren’t just Putin’s puppets, they’re his assets.
