Seriously cannot understand all the hullabaloo over this.

It doesn’t much matter whether light drinking is *beneficial*.

The real point is that the evidence of *harm* from light drinking is so modest as to be fairly trivial.

The thing about this is that’s it’s applicable to so much more than creativity.

There’s a whole techno-utopian mindset that’s just grossly out to lunch about so many things: science, healthcare, politics, education, law.

Don’t buy anything these people say about anything. They have no notion.
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

It’s hard to know what the longer-term future holds, but in 2026 the GOP is fucked.

Wonder if we’ll see a slew of Republican retirements in Congress soon.
Last night, Eileen Higgins defeated her MAGA opponent to become Miami’s next mayor — the first Democratic-aligned candidate to win this seat in nearly 30 years.

This is a massive flip: In 2021, the Republican incumbent won re-election by more than 60 points. Last night, Higgins won by 19 points.

The aggressive gerrymandering stuff that the GOP is doing is undemocratic, unconscionable, and should be illegal.

But it won’t even be close to enough to save their House majority.
A huge night for Democrats:

—They flip Miami's mayorship.
—They flip a state House district in Georgia that had voted Trump by 13%.
—They keep Albuquerque's mayorship, while the liberal faction flips city council.
—And they get big overperformances (+18 & +22) in 2 Florida specials.

Yes-and-half to all of this.

I don’t understand why they haven’t started already. Make SCOTUS the issue and refuse to shut up about it.
The Roberts Six have thoroughly politicized the Court and turned it into a reliable arm of the RNC.

Democrats should have no reservations about calling them out for it, demanding resignations from these bought-off hacks and running on a promise to enact sweeping reforms.
Democrats need to lay the groundwork for reform by attacking the villains on the Supreme Court - loudly, angrily, personally, relentlessly. And they should start now.

I literally just finished re-reading The Great Gatsby this evening.

American football is a bloodsport that ruins players’ brains and I cannot support it.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Now we know at least one Dem who plans to challenge Fetterman.

I wonder if Fetterman thinks his positions are politically savvy, or if he really believes this stuff.

Either way, he clearly learned nothing from Kyrsten Sinema, and he's serving his sole Senate term.

It is very unwelcome to say this about America’s most popular sport, especially here, in America’s best sports town, home of the defending champion Eagles.

But: tackle football is a bloodsport that ruins players’ brains and likely cannot be made safe.

BTW: this is why his approval rating matters.

The lower it is, the more vulnerable this administration is to resistance.
I cannot emphasize this enough:

The regime has overextended itself. It is vulnerable to protest and dissent.

They have not consolidated power and we are entirely capable of keeping them from doing so.
