Important Irish cat news
Finally the research has been published to prove that wild cat (Felis silvestris) lived in Ireland 5,500 years ago. Many claims over the years but the backup genetics was needed and a good number of bones have been recovered to provide enough material www.rte.ie/news/munster...
Wildcat bones found in Co Clare dated to 5,500 years ago
The first directly dated wildcat bones found in Ireland have been identified, confirming that the species inhabited the island more than 5,500 years ago.

Back on a train to Frankfurt once more

We went for a quick walk before the meeting

It was 16:35 in the end, which is pretty good by DB standards.

This was despite standing around for 20 minutes at one point
I've a train to Berlin on Sunday (for work). So far Deutsche Bahn has emailed me to tell me:
-Train will arrive at 16:30 instead of 16:31
-Train will arrive at 16:32 instead of f 16:30

Any bets as to when we will actually arrive?

I'm still amused by the fact that they reused some of the seats from the Waldstadion (the local football stadium) in one of the U-Bahn stations.

Apparently I'm in row 1

Michael D Higgins, with his wife Sabina, has left Áras an Úachtaráin for the final time as president.

He was given a guard of honour by members of the Sanctuary Runners, a charity of which he is patron.

The President’s term of office ends at midnight.

While the fog has lifted a bit, the skyscrapers are still disappearing, even if you're right under them

It's a bit foggy this morning - usually I would have been looking down towards the Frankfurt skyline from there

We've reached the point in the year when I need to keep reminding myself that the fingerprint sensor on my phone doesn't work through gloves (even the touchscreen ones!)

A 34-year-old as a politician: My god he's like a baby. It's like they just elected an infant to be their mayor.

Less football fans *in* the bus, but plenty on the road that the bus is using
Decided to take the bus part of the way home. Will take a bit longer than the S-Bahn, but should involve fewer football fans

I was wondering why there was so much coverage of the FFM marathon when it's not until the last weekend in October which is still ages away.

Or maybe it's next weekend
