Scientist and storyteller: Atmospheric Science Ph.D., software developer, and scfi/fantasy writer. I’m a weather and geosciences nerd, who loves books, comics, and RPGs. Expect me to talk about all of it. Smith College alumna. Ace demigirl. (she/they)
Just finished watching Andor (yes, I know, I’m late to the party). I found it overhyped. It had some moments that were exceptional. However, overall, the story was disjointed and there were way too many dropped story threads. And don’t get me started on how they wrote Bix; it was just insulting.

Back home again, and got some edits made to the opening chapters of the big WIP (it’s been literal years since I looked at these. Yikes.) I have time to do more writing, but my brain is starting to glaze over so it’s time to change gears to something else. Fic maybe? #amWriting

Just went for a walk down to the beach with my dad. A little cold but worth it. We saw a bald eagle and Santa leaving the local Coast Guard base via helicopter. Then coming home, we saw a fox run right across Dad’s yard. (No cause for alarm. It looked healthy and fox can be active in the daytime.)

Sketched a moment from a fic I’m writing just because. #storyArt

Visiting with Dad and stepmom for Thanksgiving weekend. So far, a lot of writing That Fic, some absolutely delicious food, a James Bond movie and the second half of Mary Poppins. (I also learned that Dad really likes Mary Poppins; he went to see it in the theater with his mom sisters and loved it.)

Hey, @keitichandesu.bsky.social - how does a HS marching band get into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade?

This is an absolutely beautiful little bit of meteorology. Wow.
(For those of you who don’t know - the little black lines show wind speed and direction at each colored dot.The little black-circled dot of calm that the winds are circling around? That’s the surface low pressure point). #weather
Guess what, kids? It's time to play our favorite game: "Find the surface low!" Yaaaaaay!

I am so very tired but I got some writing done. So, happy.

Writing activity of the day: puttering through big OG WIP and picking at tiny bits and pieces, making the start of a pass to clean up my latest round of rewriting. It needs A LOT of cleanup. This last rewrite has had multiple restarts and has been done VERY piecemeal and it shows.

A little more writing done today. I’ve come to a part I need to think about a little bit more. I don’t suppose any of you have suggestions for dungeon-puzzles that result in a character being left behind? (I need to spilt the party).

Got some writing done today, which I wasn’t expecting to do, honestly. (November continues to be Not A Month to Work on Projects for me.) I’m headed into the final few chapters of the (entirely too long) Voltron Fic project. Goal: be done by the end of the year, so I can refocus on original WIP.

Sometimes I do something and my brain hyperfixates on how maybe I did something wrong despite my good intentions and I’m going to be punished and I go into near full-on panic mode about it.
Sometimes brains suck.

Finished playing Tales of Symphonia! I loved it! 💕

I ended up having Kratos in my final party, so I may go back and replay at least the later parts of it to see how things change if I made different choices.

(And I did beat the Skeleton boss all 3 times, @liminalitycarb.live !)

First snow of the season here last night, so no aurora for me. Sadness. (Just a dusting and it’s gone now)

Melissa is a wonderful writer and human being, and I very much encourage folks to work with her!
Show of hands for who might be interested in working with me on their writing?

(Bc I plan to officially launch this as a side hustle by the end of the year—I’m finally making actual, concrete steps to become the writing mentor I always wanted and never found)

I have a writing buddy today.

Sat down to write tonight. Got distracted, and spent the last half hour (?) scrolling through DnD memes. I would blame it on the fact I got vaccinated today and I’m more tired than I think, but no, this is just me. (I miss playing RPGs.)

Tonight, a handful of fic edits done. Nothing major, but baby steps are still progress!
November 6, 2025 at 4:11 AM
So tired, I thought I wouldn’t get any writing done tonight. But I actually got some little changes made to my main WIP! (And I confirmed that I really need to get it printed out and read through what I have at this point, before I make many more edits. . . ) #amWriting

I want to write, but I’m too tired. (Gah, I hate the time change. It always throws me off for a few days…)

I love living in a little New England town that has people who go all-out for Halloween, transforming homes into haunted houses. Hundreds of kids go out in their costumes to Trick or Treat and folks sit out to see and give them (and some costumed adults, like me) treats. (I do not ask; some insist!)

A spaceship landed in the park. A door dilated. A strange-looking alien with artificial antennae made from tin foil emerged.

"Greetings, Earthlings!! We come in..." It consulted a device. "In trick or treat?"

Today just hasn’t been a great day. I got a bunch of strange comments in my most recent fic post that made me really self-concious (which I now believe to be bot/AI generated). Work was stressful. My mom was around on-and-off all day (while I was working) and now my cat peed on our good wool coats.

Watching satellite data of Hurricane Melissa making landfall and that storm is a monster. Latest reports show max sustained winds of 185 mph/160 knots (for ref, that’s an EF-4 *tornado* winds), with gusts approaching 220 mph/190 knots (EF-4/5). My heart goes out to the people of Jamaica. #melissa

@kadoore.com - do you have this one for your lists yet?
Pssst, help me reach queer book clubs about Hearth Witch!
