This project has been an incredible experience for all of us. The data collection is almost finished, so hopefully you’ll start seeing results from this amazing team effort in 2026.
Big thanks to the organising team @jeremykuhnle.bsky.social, Stephanie Steinmetz and Vasilena Lachkovska!
After so many months of fieldwork, it was great to present findings from our @equalstrength.bsky.social's project at the LIVES centre in beautiful Lausanne! Stay tuned for more in the coming months!
After seemingly endless meetings online, meeting in-person is so unbelievably valuable 🤩

Get ready for lots of research from Team Science coming your way 🤝

@distasioval.bsky.social already gave a keynote summarising the state of the art... and there is still so much more to come 👏

The saga continues...

After two years of journalists asking me whether whether Muslims vote for PVV. Now the new question is:

💥do Muslim vote for D66? 💥

With comments from yours truly, Fred van Lieburg, Martijn de Koning and Judith de Jong. www.trouw.nl/religie-filo...

There are three things everyone should know about youth and far-right voting:

1: There is (averaged all European countries) no correlation between being young and voting for the far right.
@ipsosnl.bsky.social published an age breakdown of the results of the election polls regarding tomorrow's Dutch elections.

Young Dutch voters are leaning more towards the centre-left (D66, PvdA-GL, PvdD, Volt), and are less likely to vote for both the far-right and the center-right.

Mijn hemel, wat een pertinente onzin weer! Al het onderzoek laat zien dat jongeren veel progressiever zijn dan ouderen nu en dan jongeren vroeger. Ze stemmen ook niet vaker radicaal rechts.

Waarom veel jongeren op rechtse partijen stemmen: ‘The left can’t meme’
Veel jongeren stemmen niet progressief, zoals vroeger. Sterker: in hun opvattingen staan ze zelfs dichtbij de oudste generatie. Hoe bepalen jongeren, van links tot rechts, hun politieke keuze?

So happy to see this out! We caution against excessive optimism that the opposition will restore countries back to their democratic trajectories after electoral victory. Weakened institutions and the memory of repression makes it tempting to continue rather than buck the trend of autocratization.
Conventional wisdom says that, once in power, opposition parties will return backsliding countries to the democratic path. In reality, not only is this not true, but it is not uncommon for the opposition to adopt the autocratic habits of the regime they replaced.
