Found in the archives this morning. What else is a long holiday weekend for, if one doesn't cook? Spent a quiet morning rummaging in dusty old boxes.

That's the man's signature on a recording I made of him on July 20, 1980 in France. It's a board tape from the truck, so it sounds decent!

Direct, sincere, filled with integrity.

Nicely done.
Gallego to Hegseth: "You will never ever be half the man that Sen. Kelly is. You, sir, are a coward. And the fact that you are following this order from the president shows how big of a coward you are. I can't wait until you are no longer the secretary of defense."

It will be absolutely Buddhist FAFO if it turns out we make the planet inhabitable for humans because we kill off all the insects.
Today I learned that NOx pollution from vehicles (esp. old diesels) and boilers interferes with insect scent. Yet another reason to electrify everything.

Used jumbo jet from Qatar.
Huge amounts of $$$ from crypto.

The amount of corruption in the White House is at unconscionable levels. We need some real serious ethics across the federal government.

Use Amazon like we once used the phone book - as an index to find the manufacturers/sellers - and buy direct.

Sucks resources from AMZN to keep the listings useful, while not contributing to another billionaire transhumanist asshat.

Oh, and the sellers get FULL VALUE for their goods w/out AMZN.
Me: Ditches Amazon because Jeff Bezos sided with the far-right

Me a few weeks later: Realize that many “independent” shops run on Shopify, a company also run by a far-right CEO

Hear me out: a tech industry, but that does not suck

“What is new is the confluence of three trends:

The sheer scale of wealth for the richest.

The untethering of compensation from performance.

The amount of harm these figures are willing to inflict on society.

All three are rising to a dangerously high tide.

Anyone who ends a social media post with: "Thank you for your attention to this matter," is either a) suggesting that one might personally take an interest in following through, or b) mad as a hatter.

California – this Election Day, vote yes on Prop 50.

California’s Prop 50 says that if Republicans are going to abuse the system to try and hang onto power, we’re going to counteract that abuse and create a level playing field in the midterm elections.

Make a plan to vote yes on Prop 50.

A plausible middle step on the way to Running Man (the Richard Dawson version).
Small thread:
We could begin to repair this republic if the Sunday Q&A panels were replaced. The ask-a-question-get-a-lie-ask-another-question formats no longer work in this post-fact hellscape. Instead, I propose a single, one-hour block entitled not Meet The Press or Face The Nation but rather...
