This is the only thing musk will be remembered for.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Republicans are now suddenly planning to TAX renewable energy, transforming the repeal of the IRA from a challenge to a full-blown crisis for American solar and wind.

I spent the last 24 hours putting this story together to explain why.

Please share! This is really important!!!

Buffoonery aside, I think a lot of Americans can't process that multiple generations of Germans renounce and revile past actions rather than treat them as an aspect of of their culture that must be maintained.

TRUMP: That was not a pleasant day for you? This is not a great day

one thing the Dem establishment doesn’t understand is that Rogan is *downstream* of the right-wing misinformation machine. he doesn’t originate reactionary conspiracies, he absorbs them, and that’s why he turned toward Trump

Note that the “free speech on campus” people like Friedersdorf, Chait, Weiss, still blame this on “the excesses of woke.” Not a one - to my knowledge - has admitted they were actually wrong.
Brutal account of what it’s like to teach at the University of Florida right now in the NYT—extraordinary climate of fear. People afraid to say intersectional and talk about lynchings. Fake students trying to entrap Muslim faculty or just making things up altogether. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/07/o...

I'm reading #abundance right now and it seems like they're calling for the kind of state investment that was... the entire focus of Biden's presidency (IRA, CHIPS, IIJA)? Weird thing to basically ignore. It's like the left being mad about the green new deal when Build Back Better was the same thing.

Take a moment today to read about a few of the young children whom Trump and Musk killed by shutting down USAID. The blame for these deaths falls on them.

There will be hundreds of thousands more dead kids before their lethal crusade against foreign aid ends. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

in what meaningful way can we say that the constitution is in effect when an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is wielding state power to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations?
Hearing that DOGE went into the Dept of Education today and shut down almost the entirety of the department's in-house research arm, Institute of Educational Sciences, cancelling contracts totally about $900m.

This is the clearest, most persuasive plan I've seen for breaking America out of our polarized two-party trap. Especially interesting to see the specific statutory language that would need to change. Still a longshot, but at least no constitutional amendment required. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
