If you are a federal worker being offered a buyout, I would advise against taking it.
Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice.
But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word.

In 1993, the Supreme Court said that immigration court proceedings are “domestic procedures ” which are not relevant outside the United States, specifically as relates to people detained at Guantánamo Bay. So I just can’t see how it would be legal to use Gitmo for “domestic” ICE detention purposes.

I work in a safety net hospital. Things suddenly feel very real when you start receiving detailed emails from hospital admins on how to respond to and protect patients from ICE in your hospital.
Healthcare providers have a tough enough job caring for patients without this added worry. What a time. 😞

A three-year old, his mother, and his grandmother were speaking Spanish while shopping in Milwaukee. They’re U.S. citizens from Puerto Rico but were taken by ICE. Once in detention, the mother was able to produce ID and birth certificates proving citizenship:
